Chicago Market Days 2012

Annnnnd I’m back! It’s been soooo busy here, folks! Anyone else feel the pressure of summer ending and are squeezing in as much as they can?! Anyways, some of the things I’ve been up to are very much work related but have also been able to attend a good friend’s baby shower (which had open bar…awesome) and Market Days 2012!

Market Days is the last big bash for the LGBT community in Chicago and usually a merger of a street festival and PRIDE. Very colorful, very flamboyant but also in a street festival form. It’s also one of the largest street fests in the city, spanning much of the length of Halsted Street in Boystown. There’s plenty of music, dancing, food, vendors, and even people watching … which is always fun. I headed down there with some friends on Saturday to see one of our favorite local bands Dot Dot Dot play. They’re amazing and you might remember them from a few years ago when they were finalists on “The Next Great American Band” in 2007.  They also had an original song called Stay hit the airwaves in 2010.  Check out that link … it’s Stay when they were on “The Next Great American Band” … twofer!

Me (in the black) and my friends at Market Days!

They were an amazingly good time, as usual. They busted out with Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way,” easily one of my favorite songs (don’t judge) and some other party favorites. They also went into a full rendition of NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye.” I’m a BSB fan myself, but was really neat to hear this throw back to 90s boy bands! Coming up this month is the wedding/civil union of two good friends, a roller skating bday shindog and Labor Day! Whew! What have you guys been up to?
