Eat Ohio: Guest Post – Porky’s

I’m here with an exciting Guest Post from a great up-and-coming blogger (and soon to be sister-in-law of mine), Jess from Plucky’s Second Thought.  Jess’ blog is chock full of yummy recipes, fun and easy crafts and also tidbits to help you save money (hellooo coupon codes!).  I seriously cannot get enough of her recipe posts – everything always look so tasty and easy to make! She’s been sweet enough to write up a restaurant review for us for a local place in Ohio called Porky’s!

Hello all!  Hello all, I’m Plucky from Plucky’s Second Thought…but most call me Jess. 🙂 Why “Plucky” you may ask? Well, it was a nickname when I was younger and it was one that was never forgotten!  At Plucky’s Second Thought I try to post easy craft ideas and recipes that anyone could accomplish.  Yep, you don’t have to be Martha Stewart or Rachael Ray to attempt anything on my blog!  There are also a variety of travel and product reviews as well as some awesome giveaways!  🙂

I want to thank Ashley for allowing me to tell you a little about a drive-in located in Mansfield, Ohio.

Porky’s has been around for decades, which means my family has been eating their food…for decades!  🙂  They are famous for their coneys, hamburgers, and root beer floats.  Locals know that you can call your order in and it will be ready in less than 10 minutes.  When you go to pick up your order, they have a carhop services so you don’t even have to get out of your car.  Or, if you have some spare time on your hands, you can eat inside their very small dinner-type restaurant (this is something that I’ve never done).  I will say that if you go to Porky’s, you must be prepared to eat some good ol’ greasy food; however, it is very good!!  🙂

I tend to get the same foods wherever I go (if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it), so when I go to Porky’s I ALWAYS get their coney and fries!  Their coneys are not like any other coney that I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a lot).  There is no meat in their sauce; it’s more of a ketchup-based sauce with sweet taste, but there is a little kick to it!  And of course you have to order the coneys with mustard and onion!  YUM!

And then there are the fries…AMAZING!  They probably clog every artery in your body, but I’m pretty sure they’re worth it!  🙂  They’re shoestring fries with salt.  They do give you the option to use vinegar with them, but I’ve never done this because they are amazing without ANY condiments.

This is the type of “dive” that you would see on that very famous TV show with the bleach-blonde hair “guy.”  In fact, I have no idea why it hasn’t been featured yet!!  🙂  If you live in Mansfield, Ohio, you definitely know what Porky’s is!  And if you don’t, you definitely need to make a stop there sometime on your way through!!
