Recipe: Chicken + Couscous Bowl

I love Mediterrean-inspired food. Seriously, I could eat kebobs and Greek salad everyday. One of my favorite summer meals is a quick and easy spin on a chicken kebob and couscous meal, that you can dress up or down depending on your taste. My version is super simple and easy and is  great for when I don’t have a lot of time to prepare a meal.

Eat Chicago Burbs: Greek Feast

I love Mediterranean food. From couscous to gyros to feta cheese, I love everything about it and would eat it every day if I knew I wouldn’t get sick or morbidly obese from it. There’s a nice fast-food restaurant near my work in Northbrook, IL called Greek Feast. Yes, it’s colors are a bold blue and white in honor of the Greek flag, yes it’s main entrance is in the shape of a vertical spit, but it’s nice clean and updated inside and shies away from scary overtly Greek dining.

Traditional gyro

Their menu boasts gyros (my favorite) and avgolemona soup which is basically a lemon rice soup served with a warm pita. I’ve seen tons of people ordering their massive bowls of soup, so I’m sure is amazingly delicious. This time  that I went I ordered a traditional gyro with everything as well as their feta fries, which are regular fries topped with feta cheese and seasoning. I liked to still use ketchup with the fries and they are absolutely delicious.

There are a ton of things on the menu that I’d love to try as well including: falafel, souvlaki (kabobs), lamb chops and kafte fries (spicey). Everything comes out quickly and is extremely tasty and reasonably priced. If you’re ever in the North Shore area of the Chicago suburbs, and are looking for a quick lunch, you should stop into this place! Get their early though, because the lunch rush usually fills the dining room up rather quickly!
